Introduction

Welcome to the website of the 2nd European Iron Academy, which took place on 26–27 March 2015 at the Hotel Pullman Paris Montparnasse in Paris, France.

The European Iron Academy is an independent educational event organised by a Steering Committee of international experts in iron deficiency (ID) and iron deficiency anaemia (IDA). The event brought together medical specialists with an interest in ID and IDA with the aim of achieving the following objectives:

  • Convey the latest knowledge about ID/IDA
  • Discuss diagnosis and the challenges of ID/IDA diagnosis
  • Discuss treatment options and experience of treating ID/IDA
  • Share practical clinical experiences across different specialities and countries

Using a mixture of plenary and interactive sessions, the expert Faculty presented the latest findings from the fields of anaesthesiology, cardiology, gastroenterology, geriatrics, gynaecology, haematology, internal medicine, nephrology, oncology, pharmacoeconomics and surgery.

The European Iron Academy 2015 is accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME) to provide the following CME activity for medical specialists. The EACCME is an institution of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS) http://www.uems.net.

The European Iron Academy 2015 is designated for a maximum of (or ‘for up to’) 6 hours of European external CME credits. Each medical specialist should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.
